DISCOVERING TOLEDO CITY


Toledo City

                                   Known as the princess city of the south and is a 2nd class city in the province of Cebu. Toledo City lies on Tañon Strait across Negros Island and the city of San Carlos, Negros Occidental. It is home to the Philippines largest mine, owned by Atlast Consolidated Mining and Development Corporation now known as Carmen Copper Corporation. 
                                    Toledo City formerly known as Pueblo Hinulawan is powered by its rich natural treasure beneath the earth known as Copper. On June 19, 1960, Toledo attained the status of a chartered city by virtue of Republic Act No. 2688, authored by the late congressman Manuel A. Zosa representative of the sixth district of Cebu.The main industries that can be found in the city are mining, fishing, trading and agriculture. 
                                   Famous attractions are the Malubog Lake, the Light house, Spring Park,  Manguyakuya Falls, Barangay Cantabaco, ECCAP, Capilla Santa Ana Museum and  Community Center, The Ranch Resort and the famous hinulawan festival of Toledo City.

Malubog Lake





 Is situated in the mountain barangay of General Climaco, western part of Toledo City, is an artificial lake made by the damming of Malubog Creek in 1970 to provide fresh water sources for the mining operation of Atlas Mining and for the rest of Toledo as well.






 The lake is claimed as one of the largest fresh water privately owned in the Philippines. The local people believes that the lake is enchanted.

Spring Park Mountain Resort
Located at 157 R Street Canatabaco, Toledo City. Though not your ideal resort because the place old but is highly maintained by the management. The place is perfect to unwind from the busy city life with its bare grandeur, music of the singing birds and the natural cold water from the spring.

    CANTABACO ROCK WALL


Is a quiet little barangay at Toledo City that is one of the best limestone in Southeast Asia. the place has a bolted limestone wall best for rapelling and rock climbing activites. The place has also has this Bulongon Cave ideal for caving.

Built by Tesari Charitable Institution to serve as a multi-purpose building for charitable and religious work.Its most famous feature is the museum that has a chapel and a wide range of religious icons, relics and artwork from Europe between 18th and 19th century.


ST. JOHN DE SAHAGUN PARISH CHURCH OF TOLEDO CITY


St. John de Sahagun Church  was established in 1863 under the decree of Bishop of Cebu Romualdo Gimeno a dominican friar. Its feast day is on June 12. Today parish priest Rev. Fr. Rolando Manayon, E.V Parochial Vicars: Rev. Fr. Edgardo P. Sundo, Rev. Fr. Gamaliel F. Simbajon, Rev. Fr. Amador J. Bacotot.

HINULAWAN FESTIVAL


            Hinulawan is a contraction of two Cebuano words, "hin" from "hinaguan" and "ulawan" from "bulawan" which is literally translated as "hard earned gold" in english. The festival is celebrated every 12th of June in honor of the patron saint of Toledo St. John de Sahagun. It showcases different cultural dances portraying the past and present of Toledo City. It features different historical era of the place starting from pre-spanish era up to the modern times of Toledo.
